Wet Cleaning Service

The removal of certain types of staining is often impossible by dry cleaning methods, even when highly skilled staff are employed.

In such cases identified stains, which are water-soluble may be more successfully removed by a wet cleaning process. This usually involves the treatment of the garment with stain removal agents prior to the complete immersion of the garment in a controlled solution of water.

The effects of shrinkage are not confined to the reduction in the size of the garment. Where different fabrics are used to make up a garment, differential shrinkage often occurs+ producing stress, which affects the “drape” of a garment. The way in which a fabric is cut and the type of thread used also contributes to the direction and place of shrinkage.

Color damage may be in the form of general color loss, patchiness or bleeding.

Whilst some colors can sometimes be treated prior to processing and found to be “loose” the real test is the actual process itself and possible shrinkage is entirely unknown quantity prior to wet cleaning.

The foregoing covers the main risks attached to wet cleaning. We would stress that these are very real risks and when contemplating acceptance of them, serious consideration should be given to the usefulness of the garments before permission is given for wet cleaning and our declaration signed.

Assumption of Risk

Please understand that it is Jeeves' intention to clean your garment to the highest standard. Not every stain can be safely removed from every garment. You should only sign the Assumption of Risk if you cannot wear your garment in the current condition. We will proceed with caution, but there is an element of risk.

Wheaton Valet/Debonair Cleaners has cleaned your garment to the nest of our ability while managing the risk of damage to the garment during the cleaning and stain removal process.

Wheaton Valet/Debonair Cleaners will proceed and re-clean your garment at your direction, but further cleaning may cause damage to the color, fabric or trim of the garment. This damage may be irreversible.

Continued stain removal may cause color loss and/or fabric damage. Staining can cause damage to the dye or finish of the garment that may not be reversible under any conditions.

Oxidation (yellow/brown stains) may not be removable without damage to the fabric or dye of the garment.

If Wheaton Valet/Debonair Cleaners recommends "wet-cleaning" (water-based process) of a dry-clean only garment for stain removal or whitening, this process could cause fabric distortion, shrinkage, color loss or dye bleeding.

Suede & Leather Release

By signing below, I acknowledge that leather, suede, fur and shearling garments sometimes have inherent defects that may not be apparent before cleaning. In addition to the effects of normal wear, other conditions may appear after cleaning.

Some skins may have weak or thin areas that can chafe during cleaning. Fading and discolorations may not be corrected by refinishing. Stains may not be removable.

Defects (stains, scars, scratches) in the skins that have been masked during the tanning process, may become visible after cleaning. Skins that have been stretched during manufacturing may shrink.

Manufacturing issues, such as glued seams may become evident after cleaning.

Lambskin leggings that have a stretched component, may pucker after cleaning or delaminate from the bonded stretch backing material.

Skins exposed to blood, urine or street salt will pucker and stiffen after being cleaned. These issues are usually not correctable after they occur.

The color of the garment may change during the cleaning process and refinishing to match the original color may not be possible. Color may appear uneven after cleaning. Metallic garments cannot be refinished.

Garments may experience a texture change after cleaning. Skins may stiffen and have a different “hand-feel”.
